We let the puppies mother wean them,somewhere between 5 and 6 wks.They stay with the mother until they leave. We bring mother and pups inside until they are ready to leave. The more time a puppy spends with their mom the better off they are. We like to keep the puppy until it is 10 weeks old , so we can give it all vaccinations it needs. The airlines require that puppy be 8 wks old before they are shipped via airplane travel.We will meet or deliver up to 300 miles for a small fee. Shipping will cost 280.00 to 300.00 to fly puppy from my house to yours. The advantage to this way of travel is very little stress on the puppy.

Akita's are very spontaneous and they are independent thinkers.
2.Akita's are food aggressive.You need to feed them separate from other animals.They may start a fight with another animal.The owners and family members,even the children can reach into the bowl and take food away from the dog.My 4 yr old son can take a biscuit away from max or Roxy.Of course they was raised together.Logan can do what ever he wants to them,because they love him.

Akita's are very dominate animals,if you have another animal like a dog or cat getting an Akita puppy won't be a problem.Raising your Akita puppy with other dogs, you shouldn't have very many conflicts between them.If you raise an Akita from a pup to adult and want to get another dog ,get a puppy.Normally an adult Akita won't hurt a puppy or a kitten.They are very compassionate animals.I had this beagle that was from down road,he would come up and max would play with him all the time.They will be aggressive and dominate only when it is necessary.A person needs to be firm and strong willed (stubborn) to own an Akita. When training them conscientiously is the key . Teaching to sit,stay,shake,and house train them is easy though.

Akitas like to take charge and they may even challenge you for dominance.This behavior cannot be tolerated.Do not strike it,this will do nothing.Give it a good shake by the scruff or down it on its back and hold there without let it up until it stops squirming,this is the best way to correct.

They love to carry things around in their mouth including your wrist.If this not acceptable then correct them by scolding,them and telling them no.You can give them something to do like carrying the paper to you.
You should never call your akita to you for you to discipline,this encourages them to fear your presence.The command "come" should be revered as a life saving command,as it may and could be.It should always be rewarded.

HOW TO HOUSE TRAIN YOUR PUPPY.
